‘Bobby’ Boyan Primov

A whirling dervish of engineering expertise, fabrication talent and energy, Bobby joined RETROPOWER in autumn 2022 and quickly became an indispensable part of the team.

With proven ability across both metalwork and assembly phases, he brings a rare versatility to every build he touches. It’s no stretch to say that Bobby’s consummate talent and ambidextrous approach to custom car creation have been pivotal to our recent success and growth.

Originally from Bulgaria, Bobby’s automotive journey began with the successful tuning and repair business he founded in his home country. From there, he went on to design, produce, and sell a range of chassis tuning parts – most notably for the Peugeot 306 and 406 – including polyurethane bushes and bespoke suspension components. His parts have since found homes with enthusiasts and racers around the globe, from Central Europe to Australia and beyond.

Since arriving at RETROPOWER, Bobby has shown an extraordinary ability to adapt and excel across a wide range of engineering tasks. His deep, all-encompassing technical knowledge and hands-on problem-solving skills have made him a go-to team member on some of our most complex projects. Standout examples include the Lucky Strike Austin Allegros – where Bobby masterminded the seamless fusion of Austin body-shell and Honda chassis – and the ongoing Project Wasaabi Saab 900, where his input has equally crucial.

Despite his fastidious attention to detail, Bobby’s personal project is delightfully rugged: a Nissan Navara, stripped, rebuilt, and re-engineered for off-road duty. Outfitted with extended suspension for greater travel and improved camber control, it’s his go-to machine for green-laning adventures and mud-plugging escapades.
